Dr. Scot Lewey is a board-certified gastroenterologist and advanced therapeutic endoscopist with over thirty years of clinical experience. A graduate of Kansas City University College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCU-COM), he completed a combined Internal Medicine–Pediatrics residency at William Beaumont Army Medical Center, a Gastroenterology fellowship at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center, and a year of Advanced Endoscopy/EUS training at AdventHealth Porter Hospital. Dr. Lewey has performed thousands of endoscopic procedures including ERCPs and EUS, EMR, and ESD. A U.S. Army veteran and recipient of the Bronze Star Medal and Combat Medical Badge, Dr. Lewey served as a Medical Corps Commander during the Gulf War. He has held numerous leadership roles and faculty appointments at medical schools and fellowship programs and currently serves on the Editorial Board and CME team for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (GIE).

Keep the endoscope umbilicus inside your right hand/arm for more stability and maneuverability.
Use a clear distal attachment cap for food bolus impactions, UGI bleeds and endoscopic resections such as EMR and ESD.
Try to train your left hand to control the up/down (big dial) with your thumb and the left/right (little/outside dial) with your ring finger.
